It is nowadays common to benchmark scientists mostly based on their publications, either using the raw count, the number of citations, or both. However, journal rank as an assessment tool is bad scientific practice. Thus, keep in mind that in addition to my text publications there is also a lot of free open-source scientific software I'm involved in.
